Region III EMS - South Central Kansas

About Region III EMS:

The Region III EMS Council has been supporting local EMS systems for more than 20 years. Emergency Medical Service systems have been evolving with varying needs over the past two decades. Interfacility transport, equipment, instructor training, and  administrative support have all been part of the Region III commitment to EMS. Today, major emergency medical response teams, training and information management, certifying examinations and networking are among  Region III's chief activities.

Region III is comprised of members from many communities within the 19 county area shown above. The citizens of the Region  benefit from Region III EMS activities through improved EMS system support. There are more than 40 ambulance services in the 19 county comprising Region III and more than 50,000 calls for help will be  answered each year in Region III by EMS services.

In July of 2004 Rush County was transferred from Region III to Region I and twelve counties in the southeastern portion of Region III became Region VI. At the same time, realignment in north central and northeastern Kansas regional EMS councils also occurred. This new geographical division, along with regional contact information.

The new regional division provides additional funding to the total regional effort across Kansas and provides a greater local focus in regional activities. In addition, the new are definitions help coordinate resources since the new council boundaries match the Kansas Homeland Security Regions (Homeland Security coordinator information) and the Kansas Bioterrorism Regional Councils as well as the Kansas Regional Trauma Councils.
